Overzealous Fans and Haters Ruin Everything

Need I say more?

I find a good fight just as fun as anybody, but don't take it seriously. Just don't.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle /spoilers/

-pokes title- Really great series, made by the awesome CLAMP. It's also inspired me to read a lot of their other works. Sadly, a lot of CLAMP's ideals have become ideals I support. Like 'true love comes in all shapes and sizes' so on so on. But I'm not here to talk about CLAMP, this'll be about Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

This series has made my respect from Vic Mignogna 'jump out a window, commit suicide, and get run over by a car simultaneously'. No offense to the man, but he's said some stupid things relating to my favorite character in that series Fai D Fluorite. (-pokes icon :3)

I can understand if he doesn't support Kurofai, but he's so blatantly homophobic about it that it isn't even funny. He's offered support to quite possibly one of the crackiest pairings out there that people insist are real (ootcpottpiar for short ;o) FaixChii.

FaiChii = Ok I created you to watch over my dead brother and the king that's going to force me to kill him. I am now going to turn you into a pool mat and then leave you here for an undetermined amount of time while I go parading around worlds. I don't give a s*** when you die, but apparently in the anime I'm hopelessly in love with you but I can't let you go with me out of this freakin world that makes no sense whatsover because you're a magikal creatur and I'm a sparkly magician that has dreams about 10ft tall giants that we never know are male or female.

... wow that's long xDD

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST =/= ANYTHING BY CLAMP

...I do believe this post has gotten off topic. Oh well -shrug-
If somebody actually reads this, I will be shocked :o whoot.

Danke! and Aloha!

Hi there! Marie here! (:

I've felt kinda guilty for not updating this blog D:
Not that I expect people to... agg I'm done with that excuse. I WANT people to read my ramblings. I just don't want to disappoint and have expectations.

But, since apparently rants are the thing I do best, please tell me if you want me to talk about a certain topic! x) I pride myself as a person who looks at issues from all sides, or at least try to. I love requests ;) Just don't be surprised if I procrasinate on it a bit ^^. Just send an email my way.

And, I should mention hopelessly, I'm reading a manga currently called Fujoshi Rumi. If you're a yaoi fan or laugh at yaoi, its a great pick. If you don't know WHAT yaoi is... I'd stick to yaoi-free manga such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Fruits Basket

But enough of my plugins. Have a great day! =D

Twilight Rant; Extra Info

After reading some of the comments for the 'rant' I wrote, I felt I needed a post to help explain some of them. Here's some questions that weren't necessarily asked, but what I wanted to answer.

Q- Why do you hate Twilight?
A- Actually I don't hate it. I just hate what the fandom has done to it. Some girls even went up to me saying "Do you like Edwarddd?" Maybe its just me but I find it stupid that people are so obsessed that they only associate the name Edward with Edward Cullen. =/ At the same time though, I have rped Twilight when I was really bored.

So that puts me sort of in the middle, leaning towards the hate side but not quite there.

Q- If you hate Twilight, why'd you bother reading the books?
A- First of all, my friends were a key component in this. I didn't want to read the books from the beginning, but they used the infinite powers of peer pressure to weaken me. And well... it worked.

But mainly it was because I wanted to give it a chance. One of my key philosophies is that you should try something no matter what your past thoughts of it were. Only after you've tried it should you say "OH I HATE IT." I gave Twilight that chance and then I didn't like it. That's all.

Q- Why are you trying to force your opinion on other people?
A- I'm not. If other people are influenced by what I write I'll be very surprised. Sorry, but I write this for myself, not to convince others. =/

Q- EDWARD CULLEN OR JACOB BLACK?
A- ...I'm not going to get started on that one.

Well that's it for my Extra Info post. Please tell me if I sound rude or whatever in the comments ^^. Opinions are always appreciated.

Anti-Twilight Rant!

I've always wanted to do one of these! ^.^

Twilight is the uber-popular vampire series by Stephenie Meyer. Teens all over America (and beyond!) have fallen in love with the witty cast, the clumsy but determined Bella Swan, the handsome but troubled Edward Cullen, and the funny and brave Jacob Black.

YEAH.RIGHT.

Let me redefine that for you.

Twilight is the uber-popular vampire series by Stephenie Meyer. Teens all over America have become obsessed with the characters of the story including the clumsy Mary Sue Bella Swan, the Gary Stu "as cold as the kitchen counter" Edward Cullen, and the dog Jacob Black.

Don't know what Mary Sue's and Gary Stu's are? Google it. Wikipedia is your friend.

The Twilight Plot is overused and horrid. Edward rescues Bella. Wow didn't expect that one. Bella has no character and must be around Edward in order to survive. Edward is the perfect smexy boy that every girl wants a piece of. Girls get obsessed to the series because it shows them a story where the happily ever after comes true. You must realize that she completely screwed up the image of vampires. True vampires don't fall in love with humans, they suck their blood. Or that's what I've heard anyway.

So please, before ou rant on how amazing Twilight is and how Edward and Bella are soul mates, go pick up a book that isn't made of 100% disgusting fluff and no plot.

Thank you

Projectooo

Ha so... as I previously stated, I need something to write about in this blog. Some sort of project to keep me occupied. And my decision is... -drumroll-

nothing.

I'll probably postpone this thing until after I finish my horrid History Project anyway. I do like Robert E Lee a bit... but a project? Bleh!

I'm glad its Friday, and I can't believe it isn't 12 at night yet. I just finished the book I made a review on. I'm such a sap, it made me emotional and encouraged me at the same time.

So yeah... I might make some Fullmetal Alchemist related posts later.

Backk!!! and Review for Gamer Girl <3

I thought I gave up on this blog. Honestly. But after some heavy persuasion and a super good book, I deduced that I will keep up with it! Though people may not be reading, its good to post when you don't have anybody else to talk to.

So I'm going to start with a book review. YAYYY! I fell in love with the book the second I heard about it. And when I got it from the bookfair, I realized that I was right all along.

The book is Gamer Girl by Mari Mancusi.

The plot is the following:

Maddy's life is not so rockin'. Her parents split, she's stuck in a new, small town at a school full of Aberzombies and Haters, she has a crush on someone she really shouldn't like, and she's stuck with the nickname Freak Girl. Sometimes its enough to retreat into her drawing-her manga is totally important to her-but when she gets Fields of Fantasy for her birthday, she knows she's found the one place where she can be herself. In the game word, Maddy can transform from a regular outcast high school student to Allora, a beautiful Elfin princess. In rl though, Maddy has to kick back at the Haters, rock her manga, and find the real-life friends she deserves

^ Long isn't it?

It's a fantastic book, but the reason that I liked it is because I could really relate to with the main character. That was the reason I bought the book... it seemed like my life story with a bit of fantasy and romance added.

But enough of this rambling. It's a great story, if you're looking for a real story that still has corny fantasy.

Byeee!

Disney Disasters

Hola!

It's Marie here! I'm going to be announcing my first project for this blog and I hope you enjoy.

The inspiration came when I was looking up the band Insane Clown Posse on Wikipedia. (Ever heard of them? It's two guys who pretend to be clowns from a freak show.) I heard one of their songs The Neden Game and it was so inappropriate that it was funny. (Then again the context in which it was used made it funny {aka watching an amv} ) So while reading about them I came across something that said DISNEY promoted them. My first thought was the following- WTH? Disney sponsering the Insane Clown Posse? So then I thought, this must not of been the first time Disney's done something dumb like that. I will now dedicate /some/ of my free time to looking up what will be known as Disney Disasters.

But don't worry, I'll post stuff that won't involve this project also!

Enjoy!

The Manga Review Corner- {Full Moon O Sagashite}

Hay I'm Marie and for my first official post I will be reviewing a manga I just finished called Full Moon O Sagashite. The manga has 7 full novels that are all translated to English and avaliable at libraries and bookstores. The summary is the following;

Mitsuki is 12. She loves Eichi, who's studying in the U.S., and she dreams of fulfilling her promise to him by becoming a singer. But Mitsuki has sarcoma, a form of cancer in her throat. Her doctor wants her to have an operation, but Mitsuki refuses because it would destroy her singing voice. One day two shinigami (gods of death) appear; Takuto and Meroko, and transform her into a healthy sixteen-year old. Because of the transformation, Mitsuki is able to make her debut as "Fullmoon"

^ Pretty much this book is about Mitsuki's journey as she starts out as a girl with no future, and transforms into a pop culture icon. I liked this series because of all the twists and turns. One second you believed that it was going to be happy and everything was alright, and bam the next second you would realize that you were tricked. I especially liked the ending of it (not telling ;D) Criticism I have for this is the following- The relationships are hard to follow (wait who is that person again?) and the drawings can be overloaded at times with effects. Also, the authors comments get in the way of some of the good parts. But nonetheless it still stays cute, funny, and sad.

Rating- 4

Marie's L'asile {grand opening!}

Hi there, I'm Marie and its nice to meet you. I'm glad that you discovered my newly started blog Marie's L'asile. For those that are curious, L'asile translates to Asylum in french. While I think french is a very pretty language I'm not learning it at the second. Back to business. On this blog I will be posting about things I like and /some/ aspects of my life. Not a lot though, so mostly expect stuff on anime, my current 'addiction'. All comments are appreciated! I don't expect anybody really to want to read this blog so if you are I really appreciate the dedication.
I'll be posting more later.

Seeya!
