Anti-Twilight Rant!

I've always wanted to do one of these! ^.^

Twilight is the uber-popular vampire series by Stephenie Meyer. Teens all over America (and beyond!) have fallen in love with the witty cast, the clumsy but determined Bella Swan, the handsome but troubled Edward Cullen, and the funny and brave Jacob Black.

YEAH.RIGHT.

Let me redefine that for you.

Twilight is the uber-popular vampire series by Stephenie Meyer. Teens all over America have become obsessed with the characters of the story including the clumsy Mary Sue Bella Swan, the Gary Stu "as cold as the kitchen counter" Edward Cullen, and the dog Jacob Black.

Don't know what Mary Sue's and Gary Stu's are? Google it. Wikipedia is your friend.

The Twilight Plot is overused and horrid. Edward rescues Bella. Wow didn't expect that one. Bella has no character and must be around Edward in order to survive. Edward is the perfect smexy boy that every girl wants a piece of. Girls get obsessed to the series because it shows them a story where the happily ever after comes true. You must realize that she completely screwed up the image of vampires. True vampires don't fall in love with humans, they suck their blood. Or that's what I've heard anyway.

So please, before ou rant on how amazing Twilight is and how Edward and Bella are soul mates, go pick up a book that isn't made of 100% disgusting fluff and no plot.

Thank you

  1. hello. i'm kate.

i do agree that twilight isn't the best written book. but honestly, i really loved it. and i have read many a books that aren't made of 100% disgusting fluff and no plot.

also: i read the first three books generally before the 'twilight craze' hit. when my friends and i started to read them, no one knew what they were.

i'm also not in love with edward. he's definitely not my favorite character, and neither is bella. and one of the reasons i liked the books so much was because of the world stephanie created, and how she presented vampires and werewolves. in the books, the majority of vampires are like the ones you've heard of, and want nothing to do with humans other than their hemoglobin. the cullen's are a rare type that decide to live their lives due to pre-vampire life morals.

and about the series as a whole: the last one was pretty much a train wreck. or at least, really disappointing for me. i thought it wasn't going to end happily ever after, and i felt that's how it should have ended. unfortunately, stephanie meyer gave the character's a really easy way out of everything that was foretold to come. (i'm assuming i'm not ruining this for you, because you probably won't read the book)

just thought i would put in a different perspective. i have no intention of offending anyone. and i understand your frustration with the series in general and all the teeny-boppers cooing over rob pattinson, it's annoying to me too.

  3. I liked the first 3 books a bit, but admit that they're not great literature, just fun reads. Twilight crazed air heads do annoy me though. I definitely understand how people would hate Twilight. The movie wasn't great either, but I loved it because of the amazing scenery and beautiful filming. And Jacob es mas caliente que Edward. Edward's a freakin creeper!

and I saw on your profile that you like Fullmetal Alchemist. BEST manga ever! I love love love it and have seen all the anime episodes and the movie. And Sprited Away is amazing. Miyazaki (spelling?) is one of my favorite directors ever. I'm a humongous fan! I especially love Howl's Moving Castle :]

(oh i had to delete my other comment because it had a spelling error that was really bothering me)

  4. Thanks for your opinion Kate, and yeah I've already read all four of them ^^

and Rachel... Fullmetal Alchemist is amazing =o -highfives-. Is Howl's Moving Castle good? My aunt saw it and she said that Spirited Away was much better.

I thought the movie was funny... pepper spray indeed.

  5. If you hate them so much, why go through and read all four?

  6. Good question.

My answer is that my friends forced me. And there is a certain addictive quality about the books also the first time you read them.
Afterwards though, I wondered why I bothered.
    ^^
